The MWM module allows you to activate all (7) functions of the MultiBeam headlights.

Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus switches automatically between:
– Dipped beam
– Partial main beam (not available as US/CA cars)
– Main beam
The partial main beam uses the main beam to shine past other road users rather than dazzling them. The vehicle in front is illuminated by the dipped beam. The advantage is that parts of the roads with no cars illuminated much longer distance as Main beam is still ON there

Active light function
The headlamps follow the steering movements. Relevant areas are better illuminated while driving. the active light function evaluates the course of the lane in which you are driving and adjusts the light in advance. The function is active when the dipped beam is switched on.

Cornering light function
Cornering light improves the illumination of the road over a wide angle in the direction you are turning, enabling better visibility in tight bends, for example. It can only be activated when the dipped beam is switched on.
The function is active:
– At speeds below 25 mph (40 km/h) when the turn signal light is switched on or the steering wheel is turned.
– At speeds between 25 mph (40 km/h) and 45 mph (70 km/h) when the steering wheel is turned.
Roundabout and intersection function: the cornering light is activated on both sides through an evaluation of the current GPS position of the vehicle. It remains active until after the vehicle has left the roundabout or the intersection.

Motorway mode
The motorway mode increases the range and brightness of the cone of light enabling better visibility.

Enhanced fog light function
The enhanced fog light function reduces the glare experienced by the driver and improve the illumination of the edge of the carriageway.

Adverse weather light
The adverse weather light reduces reflections in rainy conditions by dimming individual LEDs in the headlamps. This reduces the glare for the driver and other road users.

City lighting
City lighting improves the illumination of roadsides within built-up areas using a broader distribution of light.

Not all functions of the MultiBeam headlights you can get due to the technical features of some of the Mercedes models, whose versions of Multibeam headlights are older and do not technically support them.

INSTRUCTION:

This is a two step process, you will be plugging and unplugging the module twice.  Please read all directions before beginning.

Prepare the Car: The car must be put into programming mode first.  Make sure the car is warm and everything is stable.  Turn off accessories and unplug any SD or USB devices.  Don’t change any settings or press any buttons while programming.

The car must be in IGNITION position 2 (all cluster leds are ON but the motor is OFF).

Be Patient in this process, wait a minimum of 60 seconds until the audio head has totally booted up. THIS WILL TAKE AT LEAST A FULL MINUTE.

You are ready.

Now plug the module to the OBD2 diagnostic socket under the dash. The COMAND screen will blank and you will see some small white lettering…. 

There are two programs.

“Step 1: Backup+revert factory” – this program tests the car for coding possibilities and stores the original codings to file, if you were to run it again – it will revert to the factory settings.

Turning the controller will bring you to….

“Step 2: SA628 Activation – this one will activate IHC+ SA628 (the Multibeam) at your car.

Begin Installation:  Using the controller, rotate or use << >> buttons to select the first script:  

Step1: Backup+revert factory and confirm pressing the controller down or * star button.

This will begin the program…watch the progress bar until you see: “remove the module now” This takes about 1 minute or so.  Be Patient, don’t remove module until you see that message on screen.  When you do, and only when you do, remove the module.

IMPORTANT: If at the end of this step, you see a message “Exception, see the logfile” – DO NOT RUN STEP 2 !!!  Contact us as below.

After completing Step1, plug the Module back in.  The screen will again go blank with small white letters-scroll to  “Step2:SA628 Activation” and again confirm pressing the controller down or * star button.

The program will install. Observe the progress bar till you again see: “remove the module now” – this takes about 1-3 minutes depending on the car model (sometimes it seems that it freezes at a certain percentage – just wait, it is working).  You may see the COMAND screen re-boot, don’t do anything yet, wait.

When the program is finished, you will see the message “Successful SA628 On 1”- then remove the module when instructed on the COMAND screen.

IMPORTANT: Never remove the Module unless the Comand screen tells you to.

You may get an error message in the service screen, for example “Mercedes Connect inoperable” or “Lights are Defective, consult workshop”.  You may note the clock has reset to 12:00.

Don’t panic !  

Turn the car off, wait a minute, turn it back on, the messages will clear.

TIP: IHC+ (dipped beam) will only work when you:

 – select AUTO at the light rotary switch

 – push the high beam lever forward and see white high beam with (A) sign at the cluster+blue high beam sign

 – the road is narrow (the pavement is single lane every side) and totally dark.  Overhead lights (city or brightly lit roads) will keep the system from going into high beam.

 – when you are following a car at 30m-50m distance, just shake the steering wheel left-right to make the dipped high beam more visible
