This is a two step process, you will be plugging and unplugging the module twice. Please read all directions before beginning.
Prepare the Car: The car must be put into programming mode first. Make sure the car is warm and everything is stable. Turn off accessories and unplug any SD or USB devices. Don’t change any settings or press any buttons while programming.
The car must be in IGNITION position 2 (all cluster leds are ON but the motor is OFF)
Be Patient in this process, wait a minimum of 60 seconds until the audio head has totally booted up. THIS WILL TAKE AT LEAST A FULL MINUTE.
You are ready.
You will find the module and 2 SD cards in the kit.
First you should use the module with the SD card already inside it. It stores a script that remembers the factory settings for the headlights.
Begin installation: Step1 – plug the module to the OBD2 diagnostic socket under the dash. Observe the flashing green light on the module. You may not be able to see the green light blinking properly. If this is the case, use a mirror or piece of white paper, hold it up to the module and watch the green light blink.
The installation is over when the green light stops flashing. This will take 1 to 3 minutes. When the program is finished, you will no longer see flashing green light, then remove the module from the OBD port.
IMPORTANT: Never remove the Module unless the green light stops flashing.
After completing Step1 you should replace the SD card inside the module: open the module with the knife from the long side so as not to damage electronics. Do not put the knife more than 2-3 mm.
Step2: plug the module to the OBD2 diagnostic socket again and wait till the green light stops flashing. This will take 3 minutes. When the program is finished, you will no longer see flashing green light, then remove the module from the OBD port.
You may get an error message in the service screen, for example “Mercedes Connect inoperable” or “Lights are Defective, consult workshop”. You may note the clock has reset to 12:00.
Don’t panic !
Turn the car off, wait a minute, turn it back on, the messages will clear.
TIP: IHC+ (dipped beam) will only work when you:
– select AUTO at the light rotary switch
– push the high beam lever forward and see white high beam with (A) sign at the cluster+blue high beam sign
– the road is narrow (the pavement is single lane every side) and totally dark. Overhead lights (city or brightly lit roads) will keep the system from going into high beam.
– when you are following a car at 30m-50m distance, just shake the steering wheel left-right to make the dipped high beam more visible
