CarPlay / Android Auto Module by MWMods is designed to activate factory-supported Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions in compatible Mercedes-Benz multimedia systems. Some Mercedes vehicles have the necessary factory hardware for smartphone integration but do not have CarPlay or Android Auto enabled in their original software configuration. For compatible vehicles, the MWMods activation unlocks these functions without adding an aftermarket display or replacing the original Mercedes multimedia system. Drivers can then use supported smartphone navigation, communication, music, and other compatible apps through the vehicle interface while preserving the factory appearance of the interior.
The MWMods module is intended for Mercedes vehicles where Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality can be enabled through software. Rather than adding a separate CarPlay interface to the dashboard, the activation works with the compatible multimedia equipment already installed in the vehicle.
Once activated, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto provides an interface between a compatible smartphone and the Mercedes infotainment system. This gives the driver convenient access to supported navigation, audio, communication, and smartphone applications through the vehicle’s existing multimedia controls.
This distinction is important because Mercedes CarPlay upgrades can involve different solutions depending on the vehicle. Because Mercedes-Benz used different multimedia systems and software configurations across models and production years, compatibility cannot be determined from the model name alone. VIN verification is recommended before ordering to confirm that the factory system in the vehicle supports the MWMods CarPlay and Android Auto activation.
On compatible Mercedes-Benz vehicles, activation is performed through the OBD2 diagnostic connection using the MWMods hand-held module. The programming device is connected when the CarPlay and Android Auto functions need to be activated or deactivated and does not remain installed in the vehicle during normal use.
The purpose of the module is software activation of supported factory functionality rather than installation of a separate CarPlay screen, multimedia box, or replacement head unit. This allows compatible Mercedes owners to add modern smartphone integration while keeping the original multimedia hardware and factory interior configuration.
The module also provides a Factory Settings option for returning the supported software configuration to its original state when required. Since the availability of software-based CarPlay and Android Auto activation depends on the installed Mercedes multimedia system, production date, and vehicle specification, the VIN should be checked before selecting the appropriate MWMods module.
