Exhaust Flap Selection Module by MWMods is a software-based exhaust valve control upgrade for compatible Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG vehicles equipped with factory exhaust flaps. In the original vehicle configuration, the exhaust valves may remain partially closed outside specific performance driving modes, limiting how much of the factory exhaust sound is available during normal driving. The MWMods module changes the supported factory configuration so the exhaust flaps can be opened in additional DYNAMIC SELECT modes, allowing drivers to enjoy a louder and more aggressive exhaust note without replacing the exhaust system or installing a permanent aftermarket valve controller.
The MWMods Exhaust Flap Selection Module provides additional control over the factory Mercedes exhaust valves. On compatible vehicles, the standard valve strategy may prevent the exhaust flaps from fully opening unless performance modes such as Sport+ or Race are active. After the MWMods modification is enabled, the flaps can remain open in other supported DYNAMIC SELECT programs, including modes such as Comfort or Individual.
This allows the driver to combine the characteristics of a preferred driving mode with a more pronounced factory exhaust sound. For example, a compatible Mercedes can retain the Comfort driving program while using the more open exhaust-flap configuration normally associated with performance-oriented modes.
The modification works with the existing factory exhaust hardware. It does not add another muffler, replace the exhaust system, or require installation of a separate physical valve-control unit. The original exhaust flaps remain in place, while their supported software behavior is modified.
In addition to changing exhaust-flap behavior, the MWMods module can configure a supported DYNAMIC SELECT mode to become the default after the next engine start. When a compatible non-Comfort mode is selected as the default, the vehicle can start with the corresponding open-flap configuration and a more aggressive exhaust sound. Returning Comfort as the default restores the factory exhaust-flap behavior.
Programming is performed through the vehicle’s OBD2 diagnostic port using the MWMods hand-held module. The device only needs to be connected when activating or deactivating the modification and does not remain installed during normal driving.
This makes the MWMods Exhaust Flap Selection Module different from many aftermarket Mercedes exhaust valve controllers that require additional hardware to stay installed in the vehicle. It is intended for compatible vehicles that already have factory-controlled exhaust flaps and need greater access to their existing valve functionality.
Compatibility depends on the Mercedes-Benz or Mercedes-AMG model, chassis, production year, factory exhaust system, and vehicle configuration. VIN verification is therefore recommended before ordering the correct Exhaust Flap Selection Module.
